Award Amount: $2,500
Eligibility: Students with learning disabilities, physical or developmental handicaps, ongoing illness, or special needs
Location: Any school level (K–12 or post-secondary) in Connecticut
Purpose
The Djulbezar & Fehim Etemi Memorial Scholarship was created to honor the lives of the paternal grandparents of Attorneys Ron and Lou Etemi. Djulbezar and Fehim Etemi were instrumental in providing support to Ron and Lou, and encouraged them to further their education and to dream big, with the goal of taking care of their family. This memorial scholarship is intended to support students in Connecticut who demonstrate resilience, courage, and perseverance while facing personal challenges related to disability or illness.
Eligibility Requirements
- Live or attend school in Connecticut – Any grade level accepted (K–12, undergraduate, or graduate)
- Have a diagnosed learning disability, physical or developmental handicap, ongoing medical condition, or special needs
- Demonstrate financial need or hardship – This can be addressed in the personal statement
- Submit a complete application by the stated deadline
Application Requirements
- Personal Statement (500–1,000 words) – Describe your challenges, how you’ve overcome them, and what this scholarship would mean to you
- Proof of enrollment or acceptance at a school in Connecticut – This can be a report card, school ID, acceptance letter, etc.
- Optional: Letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor, mentor, or healthcare professional
- Medical or educational documentation (optional but helpful) – You do not need to disclose sensitive medical records; a summary letter from a professional or IEP document is sufficient
- 1 entry per person. Multiple submissions will disqualify subsequent submissions.
Application Deadline
August 1, 2025
The winner will be notified by August 15, 2025 by email.
